A support hub differs from a knowledge base in that a knowledge base is a collection of articles, while a support hub is an organized, question-typed, schema-equipped, approval-gated knowledge system designed for AI extractability and customer self-service at the same time. The difference is structural, and it is exactly the difference that matters for AEO. A typical knowledge base accretes articles over time with inconsistent formatting, no schema, and no deliberate map of which questions are covered — so both customers and AI engines have to hunt. A support hub is built from a question architecture: every article answers an identifiable question type in the H1-question plus citable-answer format, sections are organized by intent (answers, FAQ, learn, docs, troubleshooting, definitions), FAQPage and HowTo schema label the content for machines, and nothing publishes without approval. The result deflects tickets and earns citations from the same content. A knowledge base can become a support hub, but only by adding the structure, schema, and question coverage it usually lacks.
